FAQ's and what to do to prepare for delivery

First of all let's cover what you, the customer, are responsible for providing.

Table - The Chocolate Fountain must be placed on a steady level surface to operate smoothly.  A round wood top 60” diameter table or a wood top 8’ banquet table are recommended to accommodate the fountain, trays, napkins, plates, and skewers.  For smaller events of less than 75 guests a 54” round or 6’ banquet will suffice.  At larger events of 75 people or more a 60” is preferred because it will allow more guests to fit around the fountain at one time, and this will cut down on the amount of time a guest has to wait in line to dip.  If you do use a banquet make sure it is at least 6’ or preferably an 8’ banquet.  Any of these tables can be rented from a party rental company.  A plastic top table is not recommended because it will flex under the weight of the fountain and not provide for a steady stream of flowing chocolate.

Linen – Full length linen is recommended for whatever size table you use.  Please call for recommendations on what length to use for each size table.

Plates and Napkins – Any type of small plate around 7” diameter will work for the dipping food.  If you are having your event at a venue like a hotel or country club, make sure to request small plates in advance.  If you are having your event at home make sure to rent salad/dessert plates from the party rental company or purchase small plastic plates from a party supply store.  A small cocktail napkin is also recommended.

Electricity – The Chocolate Fountain must be within 25’ feet of an electrical outlet.  We bring our own 12 gauge extension cords and have the capability of further distances for electricity if arranged prior to the event.

Q – What kind of Chocolate do you use and how do you melt it?

A – LA Chocolate Fountains uses a confectioners chocolate that is made specifically for coating food and fruit.  The chocolate is made by Guittard Chocolate Company in Brulingame California.  We melt the chocolate directly in the Chocolate Fountain and it takes about 1 hour.  We DO NOT need to use the kitchen in your home or at the venue to melt the chocolate.  Many of the venues and customer have commented that they like using us because we are self contained and do not need get in the way of an already busy kitchen during the event.

Q – At what time during the event should I use the Chocolate Fountain?

A – It all depends on what kind of an event you are having.  If this is a traditional party like a wedding, birthday, or anniversary where dinner is going to be served we suggest starting the Chocolate Fountain about 20 minutes after dinner. If you are using the Chocolate Fountain in a free flowing environment like a lounge or promotional setting then whatever time you choose is fine.

Q – Will I get charged more if I use the Chocolate Fountain late at night?

A – As long as your runtime starts by 11 PM there will be no additional charges, but matter what time you are having your event we will be able to have a staffed Chocolate Fountain for you.
